UIUC & UF AAAR Student Research Symposium

On September 8, 2022 the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and University of Florida American Association for Aerosol Research Student Chapters are hosting a virtual symposium on Zoom. The main focus of our symposium is on atmospheric chemistry and physics and health effects of aerosols. Registration is free and open to all aerosol researchers. Opening Remarks

Opening remarks from UF & UIUC student organizers. 

9:00-10:00 CT
Morning Keynote

The symposium will kick off with our first keynote speaker: Dr. Christina McCluskey.  Dr. McCluskey is a Project Scientist at the National Center for Atmospheric Research, and will discuss her research on aerosol-cloud interactions in remote marine environments. There will be a 45 minute presentation followed by 15 minutes of Q&A.

Oral Presentations

During this session, graduate students will give 10 minute talks on their research follwed by 5 minutes of Q&A. If you are interested in giving a talk, please fill out the Registration Google Form by Friday, September 2nd.

Lunch

Break for lunch.

Poster Session

Virtual poster session. Submit an abstract for a poster through filling out the Registration Google Form by Friday, September 2nd. After the registration closes, symposium organizers will send an email where presenters can submit their posters.

Afternoon Keynote

Our afternoon keynote speaker is Dr. Natassja Lewinski.  Dr. Lewinski will discuss the human and environmental health effects of aerosols. The 45 minute presentation will be followed by 15 minutes of Q&A.

Career Panel

During this panel, we will hear from Dr. Nicole Riemer (UIUC), Dr. Vishal Verma (UIUC),  Dr. Hongwan Li (Michigan State University) and Chufan Zhou (TRC Companies, Inc.) about their careers and their advice to early career scientists.
