About Us

The University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign American Association for Aerosol Research Student Chapter (UIUC AAAR) was established in April 2021 under the guidance of the American Association for Aerosol Research (AAAR), a nonprofit professional organization for scientists and engineers who wish to promote and communicate technical advances in the field of aerosol research.

Mission

The overall mission of UIUC AAAR is to advance the profession of aerosol study at UIUC, by: 

  • Cooperating with the national branch of AAAR in furtherance of the mission, vision and goals of AAAR, and report to AAAR about our activities annually;

  • Providing a training ground for members and other students in our field for their professional development and leadership;

  • Promoting a platform for helping the members and other students in our field in preparing for their future career in either industrial or academic fields;

  • Fostering communication of colleagues in the aerosol field;

  • Promoting the aerosol research field to our prospective colleagues, such as high school students, interested multi-disciplinary researchers and engineers

  • Building a network for connecting with other students, faculty and researchers in aerosol study across the Midwest U.S. 

Membership

Student Chapter welcomes the participation of all students and post-doctoral colleagues (including but not limited to undergraduate, master students, predoctoral students, doctoral students and post-doctorates) in the fields of atmospheric sciences and air quality research, and are conducting aerosol-related studies, such as aerosol chemistry and physics, health effects of aerosol, instrumentation of aerosol, aerosol and climate, indoor and outdoor aerosol, bioaerosol etc.
